David Hockney Inspired Collage
David Hockney was born July 9th, 1937. He was born in the UK. The type of arts he does is painting, printmaking and photography. What i did was i cropped the pictures out and put them together piece my piece. Some of it couldn't have been lined up but i tried and it turned out pretty good.
Magazine Cover
What i did to emulate the Magazine i did was talking about babies since it's dedicated to parents and having a picture of a baby in the cover fits the magazines. The font i use was orange because all the magazines font seem to be colorful and very big. They all have bright colors in them. I did the photo in black and grey because it gave the picture a soothing feeling.
A grey card is used to capture the lights being used for your photo shoot. A reflector is a tool used to make the person your photographing glow more. A soft light is basically a light modifier. My set up was basically with a fa,i;y making their baby stand up and them holding her. The background was a grey background and I made it black and white so that you can get more of a soothing feeling.

Beauty
This image is a Portrait of Cristela Rodrigez taken at the Duck Pond by our school. The Camera used to take this photography was a Nikon D5300 with a 18-140 mm lens, printed out on a Epson Photo Paper on the Epson P800 digital printer. This is a formal photography because this pose was arranged. I decided to pick this photo and name it Beauty because it shows the true beauty of someone. Through the lens of a camera the beauty of someone is captured. I used a golden reflection to get a smooth glow on her face. The category this fits in is Portrait since it is a portrait of someone.
Beauty is something everyone should be seen as, doesn’t matter what skin color you are, what your beliefs are, or anything irrelevant to beauty. It comes from what’s with in and how compassionate you are towards others. In this photo you can see in her eyes how compassionate she is, there’s a glow in her eyes that make you feel that type of way. It’s a very soothing photo and the gold reflection gives you a warmth feeling inside. We live in a society where women are overly photoshopped and girls viewing those photos tend to want to be just like that because of the “standard” society has for women. But magazines, social media ect. should show natural beauty, like this.

Mandalas
i used the template Ms. Moncure to make this. After that picked a picture and got a piece of the template placed it on the picture on the section i wanted to use and the i copied and went pack to the template and pasted it. After that i just duplicated to complete the circle. And you can duplicate all you want to add as many was you want. I liked the shapes It makes and my favorite on was the second because it looks like pizza. I struggled with the gaps. If i would do it again I would've duplicated more. Mandalas mean a figure that represents the Hindu and Buddhist symbolism.
Tessellations
I did this by adding a template that Ms.Moncure provided for us. I picked a photo I wanted to make a tessellation of cropped it in PS and made it the specific size I needed it to me in order to fit in the template. I used the move tool to drag a piece of the template to the picture pressed copy and the paste in the template and you just duplicate till you fill up the template duplicate as many times as you want.
Tessellation means many of shapes fit together without gasps or overlapping. I enjoyed doing this because I didn't know how it was going to look and the end result was cool to see what shape the photo made. My favorite image was of the 1st one because of the shapes it made. I sometimes struggle with there being no gaps and it would take awhile to fix. If I was to do it again I would choose some different pictures.

Portraiture
Using the reflector to take portraits helped a lot because it makes the person your photographing face brighter and it makes your photo 10x better. Going to the duck pond help me learn more on how to use the filter and how to make someones face look extra good! To decide on our pose we picked a good background that would go with the pose. Somethings I did to retouch the picture is smooth out the face and get rid of some "imperfections".
Education For All
Dedication is the key to a successful education. Education teaches you how to overcome obstacles and also who you’re going to become in life. High school can be overwhelming but once you’re walking across that stage you will just think how all of this was totally worth it and how prepared you are for the “real world”, you will just want to say “I made it!” and want to scream of joy and jump up!
Food Photography
1. We brought in a white plate, strawberries dipped in chocolate and brownies. To make this more special we added coffee beans so it wouldn't look so plain.
2. From the video i learned how they use things that you wouldn't eat to make that meal look appetizing which is pretty cool and looks like a lot of work.
3. What I made my photograph look similar to look like a professional photographer is take the picture with a white plate.
4. Somethings I learned about food photography is that when making commercials photographers have to make the food look appetizing and put all this bunch of chemicals to make it look appetizing.
5. Some businesses that use food photography is restaurants that are trying to sell their food which is all of them.
6. I think i was successful in making it look appetizing. I don't think i'll use chocolate again because of how fast it melts.

Name Project
1. To create this photo I edited my photos first and once i was done with that i renamed them with what letter they were supposed to be. After that I opened photoshop, went to file, open, to what ever period you're in and opened a temple. After that i dragged the letters in the order they go in and made sure to press check after each one was in its place and once I was happy with how it came out I saved it as a photoshop just in case any change want to be made in the future and once I did that i went ahead and merged the photos as "merge visible" and saved is as a jpg as Lastname-First-NameProject.
2. The steps I was unclear about was how to open up the temple. I didn't struggle on taking the pictures I thought I was going to struggle on finding a K but that was the first letter I found.
3. The step I was proud of is finding the temple.
4. What I like the best of my artwork is everything it came out pretty good.
5. I could've improved on taking a picture of the E looks kind of weird but I wasn't tall enough. I still like how it looks.

Layer Mask
I created this using photoshop and getting the image from google. I used Ms. Moncure YouTube video explaining how to do this step by step. We had to match your face with the person we want to be and match up your eyes, mouth, and nose. We had to match up the color of our skin to the original persons skin. Also we had to merge our pictures at the end, there was many steps but it was really fun creating this.
In this photographed myself with Mario Lopez because I think he's a very good looking man and I want my family to be as united as theres. In this picture Mario Lopez is with his wife and i photoshopped myself in this picture they seem to be in some kind of important event I'm not sure.
This is picture of where I see myself in 10 years. I see myself being a detective because it's something I like and I would really enjoy obtaining this career. I hope that I can obtain this career, something I would really enjoy about this career is that I can investigate crimes and that really gets my attention for some reason. I picked this picture because looks like she's in a crime scenes and seems like she's a very important person and thats what I want to be. Visualizing 10 years from now was pretty cool cause I know clearly were I want and hope to be in 10 years.

Super Moon
To photograph the moon:
1. Use a tripod! A flat surface will only allow you to shoot straight, and shooting the moon means that you'll be shooting up and constantly re-adjusting the tripod as the moon moves throughout the night.
2. Use a shutter release cord, remote or the camera's self timer if you don't have one, so that you don't move the camera when pressing the shutter release during a long exposure.
3. Use a zoom lens and zoom in as much as you can to the moon. It's okay if it's not a super fancy lens, this was shot using a 15 year old $100 lens. Focus in on the craters and details on the moon.
4. ISO 1250- 1600, so that you can use as fast a shutter speed as you can without losing detail-the longer the shutter speed, the more chances you have the camera will shake even slightly in the wind, resulting in an out of focus photograph.
5. Aperture priority of f/5.6 since you are not worried about capturing any details other then the moon.
6. Bracket your exposure, meaning over expose and underexpose the photograph from what the camera is telling you. Generally the camera will overexpose the moon, so you'll get nothing but a white blob in the sky. Use the exposure compensation button (the +/- button below the shutter release) and change the exposure to -0.5, then -1.0, then -1.5 and so on, until you start seeing detail in the moon. You may go as far as -5.0 exposure compensation to get what you need.
7. Take a fair amount of photos and keep refocusing as the night progresses. The photographs may look focused on the camera's display, but you won't really see if they're completely in focus until you upload them onto your computer screen.

Principles of Arts
Balance
This picture is of two trees. I took by the girls locker rooms, I decided to take it for the principle of Balance. This is balance because it has the same object on both sides of the photo. This photo is successful because I think it shows Balance very well.
Proportion
This photo is of the flag pole and of a tombstone in the front of our school. I decided to take this photo for the principle of proportion. I think this photo is successful because the flag pole is way taller than the tombstone and you can really see that in this photo.
Rhythm
This picture is of skateboards in the front of our school. I decided to take this photo for the principle of Rhythm because rhythm is something that shows the same thing repeated and this photo is successful because you can see a pattern with the skateboards.
Emphasis
I too this photo in the quad with the trash can in the center. I decided to take this photo to represent Emphasis because the trash can would be the first thing you would see in this photo. This photo is successful; because if you were to look at this picture you the trash can on the table would catch your eye the movement you saw this picture.
Harmony
This photo is of a
Variety
This photo is of a mural at our school. I decided to take this photography to represent the principle of Variety. This photo is successful because it has a lot of different color and patterns.
Unity
This photo is of a couple of flowers i decided to take this for the principle of Unity. This photo is successful because everything goes well together. The tree and the flowers go well together in the photograph.
Elements of Arts
Line
For line I took a picture of a bar. I thought it was a good picture to represent line because it bar is straight and the line is really defined. This photo is successful because it shows the length of the object.
Color
For color I took a picture of flowers because it shows a bright color of yellow. I edited a little bit made it brighter so it would look like a really bright color. This photo is successful because it really shows color and doesn't only have yellow popping out it also has green in the background.
Shape
For shape I decided to do shadow of a trash can and a pole. This photo is successful because you can see a few different shapes within the picture.
Form
For the Element of Form I took a picture of the basketball field. This photo is successful because this picture is 3 dimensional. It has light and shadows all over the picture.
Texture
For texture I took a picture of a tree. I decided to take this picture because a tree has a lot of texture I zoomed it in more so you can really image what it would feel like. When you look at the picture you know right away that its rough.
Space
For the element of space I took a picture of the field with my partner standing in the front. This picture is successful because it of a person standing in front with a whole lot of bunch of space surrounding that certain person.
Value
For the element of Value I took a picture of a cone. I edited it grey so it would seem more interesting. This photo is successful because you can really see every detail of the photo.
The Elements and Principles of Photography
Line
- A line is one-dimensional and can vary in a width, direction, and length. Lines also can define the edge of a form. Lines can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, straight, or curved, thick or thin. Lines lead your eyes around the composition
Color
- Color has three main characteristics: hue (red, yellow, green), value (how light or dark it is), and intensity (how bright or dull is is). Colors can also be described as warm (red, yellow) or cool (blue, green).
- Monochromatic- one color plus its tints (adding white) and shades (adding black).
- Complimentary Colors- colors opposite each other on the color wheel. (ex. Green and Red)
- Analogous Colors- colors next to each other on the color wheel (ex. Red and Orange).
Shape
- Shape is two dimensional, with a height and width
- Organic Shape: a shape made by nature. Not completely defined.
- Inorganic Shape: Manmade- such as triangles and rectangles.
In this photograph by László Moholy-Nagy we can see the shapes.
Form
- Form is three dimensional, has height and width and depth.
- Photographers emphasize form by the use of highlights and shadows.
Space
- Real space if three dimensional. Space in a work of art refers to a feeling of a depth or three dimensions. It can also refer to an artist's use of the area around the picture plane.
- Positive Space- The space occupied by the primary object
- Negative Space- The space around the primary object.
Value
- Value is the lightness or darkness of a surface. It is frequently used when talking about shading, but is also important in the study of color.
Fast Shutter Speed
I took this photos by shutter priority 1/1,500, and ISO 1600 and then auto priority. A struggle I had was not getting the action right on time but i corrected it by taking a couple pictures after to capture the moment. I've learned that you can use these to get fast moving things, how to take the photos to capture the moment. Another event you can use shutter speed on is like sports to capture the movement.
Respect Yourself
My artwork is based on Respecting Yourself. I chose this pose because its saying to learn when to stop. I decided to do the hand red because its supposed to represent like a stop sign. I did this pose because as representing Red Ribbon Week I wanted to do something that said to stop because many people do things without even knowing it affecting them and don’t know how to stop. People should respect their bodies and themselves enough to know when to stop.
Many people fall in the wrong steps and take bad decisions that are hard from someone to get back on track. Sometimes it’s hard for people to get back on track that’s why I chose to do something that said stop. With her arm up and the red on her arm it basically represents a stop sign.

Light Painting
We took these photos on a tripod in our classroom. The room was very dark, the camera was on manual mode with manual focus that's how we got all these photos. My partner and I used an app called MyLightPainting. With this app we got this cool patterns that made our pictures come out real cool! The one thing we had trouble with was focusing the camera since the room was really dark.
I learned that you have to move really slow to actually get the design you want. You should also use bright glow sticks for your picture to come out really good. Another thing I learned was how to take all these cool pictures.
Other ideas I could do with light painting is put a lot of glow sticks around me and using an app on my phone for light painting and just move all over the place. It'd probably have some cool design.

Shutter Speed Exercise
When you take the picture for every different shutter speed it looks different because the Shutter speed don't have the same speed there either faster on a little bit slower. Like for example the one with Shutter Speed 1/3 of a second comes out so different than from the rest because the picture comes out somewhat white with people all deformed.I would want to use shutter speed if I were photographing some time of race or any type of sport because everyone is moving so quickly and you want to capture that moment clear.
Shutter Speed
Shutter Speed
- Shutter speeds are both a technical and aesthetic choice a photographer needs to make before releasing the shutter.
- The shutter inside your camera controls the duration of time the sensor is exposed to light.
- Capturing blur or motion in your photography can emphasize movement and add drama.
- A fast shutter speed is often utilized to freeze the movement of a subject.
- A slow shutter speed can be used to show motion and visualize movement.
- Shutter speeds are expressed as seconds or fractions of a second.
- As a general rule to prevent unintentional camera shake you should avoid handholding your digital camera at shutter speeds slower than 1/2x Focal Length.
- Using a tripod can help eliminate camera shake when using slower shutter speeds.
- The visual blur and suggestion of movement occurs because the subject is moving against a static background.
- Layering motion of different subjects moving different directions at different speeds can set up interesting dynamics within a photograph.
- Fast shutter speeds can make normal subjects appear to freeze in the air.
- When photographing people running relatively close to the camera a shutter speed of 1/1000 second or faster should freeze most motion.
- The distance the subject is from the camera, the speed of the subject, and the focal length of the lens will affect whether the subject is sharp or blurred.
- Slower shutter speeds can help convey the idea of motion and movement.
- Slow shutter speed combined with panning can help isolate the subject from a busy and distracting background.
- A tripod combined with a long exposure can capture the fireworks’ trails.
- Water movement can be emphasized with long exposures.
Cyanotype
Cyanotype was invented by John Herschel. It was discovered in 1842. The chemicals used to make Cyanotype are potassium ferricyanide and Ferric ammonium citrate mixed separately. Then they are blended together.

Toy Story: Revenge
Three best friends were starting high school. It was their freshmen year and they were all super excited. They had been best friends since elementary and they thought nothing could separate them. People would tell them that you don't stay friends with the same people you started with but they didn't believe that. They strongly believed that they would always be friends.
It had been their first week of school and Penguin started noticing that pumpkin was changing She wasn't the same with her anymore. So it was lunch time Penguin went to get lunch and coming back she overheard Angela and Pumpkin talking... They weren't just talking about anyone they were talking about her! She got so angry and hurt wondering what she had done for Pumpkin to say mean thing about her like that.
Penguin furious and wanted to get revenge. She had magical powers.. She had the power to change to another person. That was her plan. Since Angela trusted her so much Penguin said that she and a new friend that was going to be in Angela's class and she wanted her to help her out with what they were doing. Of course Angela agreed. Penguin plan was working...
Angela did exactly what penguin wanted her to do. Penguin changed she didn't look like she did before. Angela had no clue.. Angela had eaten the food that Penguin had given her. Took a few minutes to kick in. Everything happened so quick. Penguin quickly got rid of the body she buried it outside. Pumpkin not knowing what was going on at all Penguin knew it was going to be really easy to fool her and pretend she didn't know what had happen to Angela. Since penguin didn't look how she used to it was going to be better, she was going tot have a fresh start with pumpkin. Not knowing her "best friend" had killed Angela. Penguin was a psycho...
Aperture Assignment
I saw the apertures change how the pictures came out. For f/1.8 the picture was burled out the most and for f/8 there wasn't that much burled out and with f/16 the picture became more clear but still focusing on the first box. The bigger the number the smaller the apertures. Larger apertures blurs the background. Depth go field is how much of the image is focused.
Digital Camera Basics
DSLR
How shutter speeds are measured
- DSLR stands for “Digital Single Lens Reflex”. Uses mirrors to direct light from the lends to the viewfinder it's a hole on the back of the camera.
- Exposure is the amount of light collected by the sensor in your camera during a single picture
- If the shot is exposed too short the photograph will appear too dark
- If the shot is exposed too long the photograph will be washed out.
- Almost all cameras today have light meters which measures the light in the given shot and set an ideal exposure.
- The three primary controls your camera uses for exposure are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Before taking a photo consider these 3 things.
- Simply put, aperture is a hole within a lens, through which light travels into the camera body.
- It is easier to understand the concept if you just think about your eyes.
- In photography, aperture is expressed in f-numbers (Ex. F/5.6).These f-numbers that are known as “f-stops” are a way of describing the size of the aperture.
- A small f-stop means a larger aperture. While a larger f-stop means a smaller aperture
- Small apertures (high f/numbers ie f/22) increase the depth of field, bringing both the main subject and background into focus.
- Large apertures (low f/numbers ie f/2.8) soften background details.
- Known as “exposure time”, stands for the lengths of time a camera shutter is open to expose light into camera sensor.
- If the shutter speed is fast, it can help to freeze action completely.
- If the shutter speed is slow, it can create an effect called “motion blur”
How shutter speeds are measured
- Shutter speed are typically measured in fractions of a second, when they are under a second.
- For example ¼ means a quarter of a second, while 1/250 means one
- The slowest shutter speed for a hand held photography is 1/60, Anything lower then that should either be on a tripod or on a straight, solid surface.
- Any slower handheld shutter speed begins to get motion blur and you photography may be out of focus.
- ISO is the level of sensitivity of your camera to available light.
- The lower ISO number, the less sensitive it is to the light, while a higher ISO number increases the sensitivity of your camera.
- The component within your camera that can change sensitivity is called “image sensor” or simply “sensor”
- With the increased sensitivity, your camera sensor can capture images in a low-light environment without having to use flash. But higher sensitivity comes at expense- it adds grain or “noise” to the picture.
- Bright and sunny, 100 iso
- Cloudy, 250 iso
- Indoors, 500 iso
- Night time without a flash, 1600 iso
- M- Manual Control over aperture and shutter
- A- Aperture Priority controls depth of field
- S- Shutter Priority
- P- Camera sets shutter speed and aperture
- Have the camera strap around your neck at all times and hold the camera by the lens and hand grip if possible- treat with care!.
Camera Obscura
Camera Obscura is taken in a dark room like the picture above. It has a small hole to get whats outside. Camera Obscura means "Darken Room" in latin. Basically what it does is it takes whats outside and reflects it inside the dark room upside down. The right picture is the result of Camera Obscura. It has to be in a rake room with a small hole and it reflects everything thats outside.
Surreal Portrait
The app i used in to make this photo is Pixlr. I used a double exposure to get it to look like i'm doing a arm motion. I used the filter Bob and I just darkened it a little bit. I took this picture at Oceanside pier while the sun was coming down because I love sunsets and I love the beach.I love the beach because it makes me feel relaxed. When I have any issues going on its just a place where I can relief my stress. I decided to take it while the sun was coming down because i love sunset their just so beautiful to see!
